[bvblogic] and Ukrainian Trade Mission to Canada
At the end of October 2017, the Ukrainian Trade Mission to Canada was organized. This incredibly important event became a reality thanks to the Export Promotion Office, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, and Canada-Ukraine Trade and Investment Support project – CUTIS. Within this Mission Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman made an official visit to Canada.
It is hard to overestimate the value of this Mission. Ukrainian companies got an opportunity to learn much about how the Canadian market functions, to build a network of new useful contacts, and to establish connections with potential partners. For many Ukrainian companies, it was the first key step to exporting their goods and services to the Canadian market.
The Mission consisted of two parts:
- Canada-Ukraine Business Forum under the supervision of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman
- B2B meetings with potential Canadian partners, organized by Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce
The participants of the Forum:
- The Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv,
- Trade Representative of Ukraine – Deputy of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade – Nataliya Mykolska,
- Head of the Export Promotion Office Maryana Kahanyak,
- Head of UkraineInvest – Ukraine Investment Promotion Office Daniel Bilak
- President of Сanada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce Zenon Potichny
Business Development Manager of [bvblogic] Sergiy Pinigin participated in this Mission. Earlier, in May, he had also visited the First Ukrainian IT-mission to Canada, and this experience gave him an opportunity to define some specific features of this event in comparison with the previous one.
Ukraine Investment Promotion Office experiments with different formats to find the most effective way to support Ukrainian export companies.
While the first mission in May was centered around technological companies, this time the event was cross-sectoral, containing participants from diverse business areas.
Visits to several Canadian companies were also organized within the mission.
Another distinguishing feature of this mission was the public speech by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and a discussion within the mission program. This gave the event a very high rank status, the assembly hall was full of participants.
Although it was not easy to organize many meetings with the representatives of Canadian companies because of the lack of time, eventually these two days were extremely productive and helped to expand our network of business contacts.
Earlier this year, a Free Trade Agreement was signed between Ukraine and Canada(CUFTA). According to this Agreement, Ukrainian companies received toll-free access to 98% of the Canadian market. So, events like this Mission have become a very effective platform for meetings of Canadian and Ukrainian businessmen. The Mission helps to find the best ways of mutually beneficial cooperation, which now, thanks to the Agreement, has become more real than ever before.
